I have been using the plastic strips, but have been thinking of upgrading. The meters I see at homebrew websites seem to have mixed reviews. Looking for a good quality meter that isn't a huge pain to store/calibrate.

AJ deLange over in homebrewtalk.com seems to be leaning toward a newish Hach pH Meter. He is a very respected brewing chemist.

I personally use a Milwaukee MW100 (no ATC) manual calibration meter. Has been extremely stable - of course I have to adjust for temperature which is fine. Other Milwaukees seen to have mixed reviews - seems to be a probe issue.

Some tips for shopping, calibration and stability testing:

Thanks for the help Matt. Also, enjoyed reading your blog and Bru'n Water walkthrough.

Hey thanks for the kind words. I am just repeating what I learn. AJ, Martin and others are really the experts.

Figuring out Bru'n has made the world of difference for my beers... hopefully that might translate into better placings this year.

Ordered the Hach Pocket Pro Plus after reading all the good reviews on HBT. Guessing I'm not the only brewer who has done so, since it is back-ordered until 2-28. Looks like I'm using the strips for one more batch.
