I have a very old Brew Magic with stainless steel screens that sit above the outlet pipe on my mashtun. There is about 2+ inches of water below my grain bed making it hard to calculate and use an appropiate amt. of strike water for the grain. I am trying to figure out a way to mount the false bottom lower in the kettle. Are there Sabco parts available that will help me do this? Other suppliers like More Beer that have items that will work? Thanks for any help.

I think that I would fill it to the screen in the MT, then drain it to see what the amount of liquid is, then calculate from there.

Alternately, I would think that if you use 1.5 qt water for each pound of grain you would be fine with a loose mash. FWIW, I use 1.25
