Re: I'm back

Hey Hooch, kinda by choice. Kids and a new business, so something had to shake-out.

I did a Festbier with a Kolsch yeast for my last brew. It was lackluster, but I must have done something wrong since everyone raves about theirs.

Cheers.

I'm back

10 months since my last brew, plan to pull the BM out of mothball this weekend and brew a Hop Hammer clone. Over a pound of hops in the BK, for a 10 gallon batch. Choose this recipe so I could get the old hops out of the freezer :D

It really was a sin going this long without a brew.

New Brew Magic Upgrade?

Hey Matt,

Any further thoughts on the software update since your last blog? Would you say well worth it? Not so much? Brewed last night and was thinking about upgrading.

Thanks,
Scott

I got 4th place.

Well, first competition I have ever entered. German Pilsner category, only 12 total entries. But, for my first lager, very happy with the comments from the judges. Need to change my hop schedule a little to add more hop flavor. Maybe a medal next year. http://i1359.photobucket.com/albums/q783/scratc...

Re: New Brew Magic Upgrade?

Not feeling it either. Like most, I don’t use the "save" features for recipes. They do state "We’ve enhanced the program with the capability for network recipe sharing, editing and mobile control monitoring." I assume "mobile control monitoring" means you can monitor temps, pump function, etc from y...

Re: Clean In Place Mod

Actually, something like this for a Sanke would be great. I have two Sanke kegs that I just started to use for fermenting (going glass free). A CIP ball on a SS lid that is clamped to the keg would be very nice.

Re: Clean In Place Mod

Super cool, and shiney! I started my carrer in liquid maufacturing and was always intrigued by the CIP process. I think you did a great job, like how you modified the existing kettle lid. However, in hindsight, was it worth it and would you do it again? I ask that since your already breaking down th...

Re: After a brew, how do you clean your tri-clamps and gaske

I just toss them into the sink with hot water/PBW. Soak a little and use a quick brush as needed, rinse and air dry. After a couple days, I either reassemble or store them in plastic container.

I don't see the need to boil them.

Re: What Ph Meter do you use?

Ordered the Hach Pocket Pro Plus after reading all the good reviews on HBT. Guessing I'm not the only brewer who has done so, since it is back-ordered until 2-28. Looks like I'm using the strips for one more batch.
